It is a great joy and honor for me, as president of the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce, to introduce you to the wonderful world of "Nautical Tales and Nature Trails: Recreation in Southeastern Connecticut and Southern Rhode Island". This book celebrates the diverse and forward-thinking companies that support the vibrant economy and high standard of living of our beloved region while showcasing its extraordinary beauty, history, and cultural diversity.

There are numerous top-notch businesses in the region, each of which gives our neighborhood its own distinctive personality. Among these are the Mystic Aquarium, a facility dedicated to marine conservation and education, Groton Utilities, a provider of crucial services to our area, and Foxwoods Resort Casino, a premier gaming and entertainment establishment. Additionally, the region is home to Stratedia's cutting-edge digital marketing know-how, Hartford HealthCare's first-rate medical treatment, and the Mystic Seaport Museum's extensive collection of nautical artifacts.

Our area is renowned for its gastronomic delights as well, with a wide variety of restaurants serving cuisines to suit every taste. The Greater Mystic region is a foodie's dream, offering everything from fine dining venues to fast food joints, with skilled chefs and restaurateurs creating amazing dining experiences.

Bridget Morrissey's guidebook "Nautical Tales and Nature Trails" is the product of a labor of love and a representation of her deep-seated affection for the region. Bridget and her husband, Will, have been rooted in the area for decades, which has allowed them to build a wealth of knowledge for this book. I have known them both to be deeply involved in and committed to the community.
